ELCOT’s student laptop scheme

I don’t really know how many of you are aware of this piece of information, that is ELCOT (Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited) is giving out laptops for students studying in Tamil Nadu. Students (of school, college or even Correspondence courses in Universities) can avail this offer. As per information from their portal, right now they offer Acer brand laptops that are preloaded with Suse Linux Enterprise Edition 10.1 (here Linux is making it’s way to student’s life), which comes in two editions, one is fully-loaded that costs 31,717.00 INR and other one costs 29,429.00 INR. I believe prices are inclusive of all other taxes. I have gone through the configurations, it is very impressive for the price tag, however I really don’t know how good is that model in performance vise. BTW, the offer ends on July 31st, and it seems they are planned to sell only 1,00,000 laptops. So if you guys are interested please make your way to get one for yourself. Blogging Frequency

Yeah I know this post is coming after a long time. Part of the reason for the change in blogging frequency is that hectic work, but the real reason is that I’m lazy, I did not manage my time well and I know that I could have regularly posted, now I have decided to blog regularly irrespective of my work / personal schedules. I look at the blogging habit as a good way of expressing oneself, making new friends, and expanding one’s social network. I know, this post is coming after a long time. Even I ‘ve been wondering how these days have gone so quickly that I have totally forgot the term “Blogging”, the reason being hectic months at work, it was so much so that I have had no time think of blogging. Whilst the information that I’ve penned here is old, I feel that this piece would interest y’all. This post is about WiTricity, a portmanteau [A new word formed by joining two others and combining their meanings - WordWeb] for wireless electricity, a phenomenon of transmitting power wirelessly . MCET Alumni Get Together @ Chennai

We guys, MCET (Dr.Mahalingam College of Engineer and Technology) grads in Chennai, have planned to convene on the 21st July 2007 at Chennai. It’s been three years since I graduated, but still the good old college days’ memories are lingering in the mind. Oh boy, three years just gone like anything. And now pops up a set of ever daunting questions, what have I done till now? What am I gonna do differently in the coming days? What am I destined to do? et al. I have somehow eluded the mind-bending thoughts to continue posting this.

Now back to the alumni meeting… This time the event makes a bit more sense to me than it used to be in the past as I was a stark silent member, but not anymore now. I believe that it’s not just about meeting people; there is more to it than meets the eye. I have planned to interact with everyone out there and get acquainted with great minds. It’s always special to get to know like-minded people and exchanging thoughts. The event becomes more special when people getting together are of from distinct-fields.
